The state of Florida, on March 1, 2007, passed several laws requiring Florida Insurance companies to give Premium Discounts to home owners that have taken extra structural measures to protect their properties against Florida's unpredictable weather and storms. To aid property owners with this transition the State of Florida also created the My Safe Florida matching Grant program giving owners up to $5,000.00 toward these upgrades.
